The Best Acoustic Guitar Lessons For Kids Ever

The Best Acoustic Guitar Lessons For Kids Ever
By Thord Hall

Last year, from out of the blue, my nine year old daughter informed me that she would like an acoustic guitar. Being a typical parent, my first question to myself was, “How much will this cost?” My second question was to her, “Will you actually learn play this guitar or will it end up collecting dust in your closet?” I had absolutely no idea how much a guitar would cost, or what type of guitar I should buy.

Aside from the expense involved, I never thought about how she would learn to play the guitar. I just assumed that someone we knew would know someone that gave lessons. Not that easy.

Every tutor recommended to us had no openings, even the guitar shop where we bought the guitar could not fit us in for four months. By the time summer rolled around we finally found a pretty good instructor, but he could only give lessons on Wednesdays at 10:30 in the morning, and only for 30 minutes. Not only were the lessons expensive ($45.00 each time), but they weren’t long enough and they were at a very inconvenient time. I soon decided that there had to be a better way.

I started looking for acoustic guitar lessons for kids online and eventually came across a program called Jamorama that seemed like exactly what I was looking for. To say that I was impressed would be an incredible understatement.

It was so affordable that I was actually angry with myself for not going online and finding it sooner. The entire Jamorama program cost less than one lesson with the private tutor. Not only did it cost less, but the quality of the instruction and ease of use was far beyond my expectations of an online lesson plan.

Two of the features of Jamorama that made me decide to buy the program were the free trial and the money back guarantee. Jamorama offers you an introductory six part guitar course as a free trial, You just click on your ability level and you can download it instantly. However, it was the money back guarantee that sold me. You will get a complete 100% refund if you decide within 60 days that Jamorama is not for you. That gives you almost two months to test drive Jamorama.

The Jamorama course is comprehensive all-in-one program that claims it can take anyone from the total beginner level to being an advanced guitarist. I can see the improvement in my daughter’s playing and would have to agree with this claim. Almost half of all students stop their guitar lessons within six months because they don’t see the results they expected. It has been well over six months for us now, and we are ready to upgrade to a better guitar. I personally cannot say enough about Jamorama. It is my opinion, that Jamorama offers the best acoustic guitar lessons for kids OR adults that I have seen online or anywhere else.

When I first started using Jamorama, I never thought that I would look at it as an investment. However, after seeing how much money I have saved and the improvement in my daughters guitar skills, I can’t help but feel that this has been a very good investment.

Choosing The Best Beginner Guitar

Choosing The Best Beginner Guitar
By John C. Rivera

Buying your first guitar is one of the most important decisions you will make in your career. Buying your first guitar is, of course, very personal. You have to choose between an acoustic guitar and electric guitar. The guitar needs to fit your body, your style, feel comfortable, and sound right.

The easiest guitar to learn on is an acoustic guitar. You can always transition to other guitars. But the best beginner guitar for the money is an acoustic because it does not require an expensive amplifier.

In addition, an acoustic guitar is easier to take from one place to another. It’s a good idea when first starting, to join other musicians in jam sessions. Don’t let your jam time get ahead of your lessons. Study the basics.

The beginning musician doesn’t need much more than his guitar. You’ll need a pick. Get some lessons so you can learn the basics of music theory. There are some online guitar lessons that are excellent. Find a teacher you like on YouTube and then visit the website to see if it feels good to your learning style.

There is often the temptation to buy a used guitar to save money. Do not get caught in that trap. It’s much better to go to a reputable music store. You will be able to test guitars on the size and sound. Most stores have good musicians who work there. They can help you find the best guitar for beginners based on your particular requirements. Get all the answers to your questions. Have someone in the store who can play the guitar so you know if has a good sound. Additionally, a good music store is a great resource for new musicians.

You will also want to avoid cheap brands. Usually, the workmanship is poor and the sound is poor or tinny. Yamaha and Fender guitars are the best for beginners. You will spend a little more money, but worth it.

3 Thoughts For Choosing the Best Online Guitar Lessons

3 Thoughts For Choosing the Best Online Guitar Lessons
By Fred Underland

What are the best online guitar lessons? A full course that teaches from beginner to advanced levels can be considered among the best lessons. But keep these few thoughts in mind when choosing which one.

1) Are the online guitar lessons taught by one person, or by many people? It is significantly harder to switch from teaching style to teaching style, no matter what skill you are learning. Choose a teacher online that clicks with you, and give their lessons a try.

2) What is the medium by which the guitar lessons are taught? Streaming videos? Instant download? At home DVD’s? Streaming videos are effective, but can be tedious to find where you left off on your previous session. DVD’s are great but slightly expensive. Instant downloads tend to give the most flexibility for the student. You pay once, download and can progress at your own speed.

3) How much do the lessons really cost? DVD’s are expensive, but can be worth it. Streaming video sites, or member sites, seem like a great idea, but can get expensive. If you progress slowly, the payments still progress at the same monthly rate!

*Instant downloads are by far the best value for a learning guitarist who is slightly unsure of his/her commitment level. This way the student pays once and has all the material at hand to follow at their own speed.

Keep these 3 simple thoughts in mind while picking online guitar lessons and you’ll make sure you are investing in your education wisely.

How to Learn the Guitar – Choosing the Best Beginner Guitar For You

How to Learn the Guitar – Choosing the Best Beginner Guitar For You
By Nik Martin

If you want to find out how to learn the guitar and are wondering about taking a guitar course online – Stop! This article is all about helping you take the first step which is “choosing the best beginner guitar for you”. We are going to examine the main differences between the 3 most popular models and after you’re done with this article you should be able to choose the guitar best suited to the style you want to learn.

Classical or Spanish Acoustic

Choosing the right guitar is extremely important and if you are just starting out many guitar teachers recommend a nylon string classical guitar. The reason they recommend nylon string is because they are much easier on the fingers. I would agree that this is a good recommendation and it might be the best beginner guitar for you, but remember that this type of guitar is more suited to Classical and Spanish style music.

Steel String Acoustic

This type of guitar is basically the same design as the classical model but they have steel strings on them. This instrument will usually be brighter sounding and louder due to the steel strings and they will also make your fingers a little more sore in the beginning. Your fingers will soon get used to the harder strings and after a short while the soreness will go as the end of your fingers harden slightly. The steel string acoustic is most suited to country, country rock and many modern guitar based songs which are all styles you can learn with a guitar course online.

Electric Guitar

If rock music is your passion then you will want to be looking at an Electric Guitar. These also have steel strings and can be a little hard on the fingers at first. The gap between the strings and the fret board is called “the action” and the closer the strings are to the fret board the easier it is to press them down. The action on electric guitars tend to be a lot lower that on an acoustic which can make them more preferable for beginners who want to know how to play the guitar.

Unlike the acoustic guitar which has a hollow body to amplify its sound acoustically, most electric guitars have a solid body and need some kind of external amplification. Having to buy an amp is something you need to take in to consideration if you have a tight budget!

Budget

When first starting to learn to play the guitar your budget might not stretch to the sort of guitar that you really want. It is not necessary to buy an expensive guitar when you are just starting out. Get something within your budget that you can learn some simple techniques on first. Once you have learned a few songs you may want to invest in something better but to start with just concentrate on learning the basics.

An important part of knowing how to learn the guitar is having the best beginner guitar to suit your needs. Try a few different types out in your local music store to see what you prefer. Remember to check the action to see how hard it is to press down on the notes. Feel the difference between nylon strings and steel strings and see which feels better to play. Before you choose to take a guitar course online or take lessons with a personal teacher take the time to find an instrument you will enjoy playing.

5 Easy Steps to Finding the Best Online Guitar Lessons

5 Easy Steps to Finding the Best Online Guitar Lessons
By Derek Douglas

How to Choose the Best Online Guitar Lessons?

Learning guitar through the online courses is a great option. But, you need to get a suitable online course so that your specific needs and limitations are addressed. The best online guitar lessons should contain great teaching materials; must have superior audio and video quality and needs to be prompt regarding customer services. Additionally, they should be suitable for the expertise level of the learner and must be within his or her budget. Here are the five things that you should check before you select an online course for learning guitar.

Quality of the Lessons

The online guitar course needs to be of top notch quality, and there should no compromise on this issue. The instructor or the designer of the course needs to be an expert in this field and should also have a much experience teaching guitar. The lessons need to be very effective, clear and insightful. The course should make learning easier and interesting.

The lessons should also be exhaustive so that a complete novice can learn to play reasonably well right from the scratch. They should be systematically organized so that the new learner is not confused by haphazard processes. So, the quality of the course is an issue of paramount importance and you need to pay adequate attention to this fact.

Suitability

Even the best online guitar lessons can back fire if it is not suitable for your individual needs. As for example, if you are keen on learning heavy metal guitar, a course designed for teaching classical or country guitar can be absolutely useless for you. Similarly, the lessons with more emphasis on acoustic guitar can be a damper for the electric guitar enthusiasts.

You need to choose an online course that will be suitable for your expertise level. A course designed for the beginners usually concentrate on teaching the basics about the guitar and end at a level where the learner can play the songs of their choice or can pick up a new song with reasonable ease. More advanced courses are meant for people with prior knowledge about playing guitar, and a novice will not be able to follow them.

Technical Aspects

The best online guitar lessons should have highest quality videos and audio facilities so that you do not face any problem in following the lessons or the instructions. Many online courses also make the materials available through DVDs, high definition video you can view online, and written instructions in PDF format.

Customer Service

You need to check whether the online course has good and prompt customer service. They should acknowledge your payment immediately and give you access to the course as soon as possible. A good online course should offer a one hundred percent money back warranty provision and most standard courses keep this option open for about two months. Good customer service will ensure that you get back your dues in case you are not satisfied with the course.

Cost Effectiveness

One great thing about online guitar courses is that they are very cost effective and are cheaper than the traditional methods of learning guitar. Most high ranking courses have standard and reasonable pricing. They are well within your budget and there is no need to financially overstretch yourself for this.

So, if you keep these few factors in mind, you can choose the best and the most suitable online guitar course for yourself and can learn guitar in a fun and effective way.

5 Guitar Strumming Exercises That Will Help Your Picking

5 Guitar Strumming Exercises That Will Help Your Picking
By Gene Petty

In order to pick and strum, the index finger and the thumb need to coordinate together. The pick needs to be held at an angle that is comfortable and still effective. You can imagine every guitarist holds the pick differently depending upon the shape of the individual hand. Some use the middle instead of the index finger. Some slant it at more or less of an angle.

Before you actually start to pick, try these guitar strumming exercises to get you physically used to holding the pick.

    1. Pick Push-ups. Hold the pick between your thumb and index finger. You can use your middle finger if it feels more comfortable. Draw the pick in towards your hand and push the pick away alternately. The motion looks like a push up exercise. Do 5 sets of 10

    1. Back and Forth. Simply hold the pick between as before but don’t move the thumb or finger. Move your wrist as if you were turning a doorknob back and forth. Make sure that only your wrist is moving, and in a twisting half rotation. Do short bursts 3 times in a set. Do 10 sets of these. Keep the elbow as motionless as possible.

    1. Elbow Grease. OK, all you who like guitar picking styles like Taylor Swift, this one is for you. Hold the pick and keep your fingers and wrist stiff. Pump your elbow so that your forearm moves up and down. Do 10 of these and stop. Drop the pick on a table and shake your hand out lightly. Pick up the pick and repeat 3 times. Do not move fingers hands or wrist while pumping the elbow.

    1. The Combo. Now you are going to do a combination of the last 3 exercises. Start with the big motion first; that would be the elbow motion. Count about 5 and then add the wrist motion. With the new motion added you could try to change the direction now and then. The forearm comes up and the wrist ‘turns the doorknob’ right. The forearm goes down, the wrist turns left. Then try the wrist moving in the opposite directions. Add the pick push-ups into the mix and you will begin to feel a fluidity of motion as you coordinate all 3 exercises.

  1. String Picking. You don’t need to know any notes to do this. You don’t need to know any guitar picking styles either. Take your open guitar strings and pick them down and up alternately, one at a time. If you are comfortable with fretting, then you can do this with random notes in any order. This is just a physical exercise, so it doesn’t matter what notes you play. Hit each note about 8 to 10 times in a down and up motion. Switch strings and do more.

To reiterate the last point, these exercises have nothing to do with music theory or melodies or rhythms. They are just mechanical guitar strumming exercises to help you get used to holding the pick.

True Or False – Even The Best Online Guitar Lessons Can’t Replace A Good Offline Teacher

True Or False – Even The Best Online Guitar Lessons Can’t Replace A Good Offline Teacher.
By Gene Petty

Tradition tells us that we should learn with a one on one experience in a closed room or “studio”. There is no doubt, a closeness between teacher and student when in the same room. This can be in itself good or bad. There is also the dynamics of vocal inflection and facial detail that you can’t get on Skype.

Still, who needs those details when you are just learning guitar chords for beginners or how to strum a guitar?

All basic skills taught on any instrument through a standard or live video call can be as effective if not more effective than the traditional at home/studio lesson.

Looking at the fundamentals of music, we approach three basic subjects: Rhythm, melody, and harmony. These are not the only musical fundamentals, but they will suit our momentary purpose.

1. Rhythm

All music starts with rhythm with some exceptions, post John Cage inclusive.

Even with “nonrhythmic” concepts, video still holds up against studio teaching.

A beat is a beat is a beat. No matter if you clap it, drum it, slap it, or hum it, a beat is a pulse that is easily identifiable with repetition. This is not something that requires proximity of closeness. One does not even need the visual aspect. Rhythm taught over the phone without the aid of watching it performed, is even more direct because there is no visual distraction. It is pure rhythm, as you would hear on a recording.

We never needed any of those MTV music videos to listen to the music. We don’t need any video to learn rhythm either. All we need is to listen to the beat and the sound of the rhythm.

If we want to learn music notation, then we must learn to read rhythms. In this case, we need audiovisual as opposed to just audio. The online training video would display whole, quarter, eighth and sixteenth notes as well as rests on a staff. The staff could be a white board or a power point type presentation.

How convenient that the written information does not need to make use of paper.

2. Melody

Learning ear training, pitch training and interval training with computer audiovisual aids is more effective than the old studio teaching methods.

It may not be fair to assume that with the older teaching method there is no computer to access, but for sake of argument let’s say it is so. Even today, not every teacher that shows up to your home will be ready to teach with a laptop.

With an online training video lesson, all the advantages of a laptop are right there.

Interval learning software is available to help learn the distance between notes. Tuning apps are available at the whim of a quick download.

Have we forgotten the simplest method? The method of the teacher playing the notes on the instrument and the student playing it back. On the other hand, just the student reading the notes from their own music stand or on the computer does not lose anything in the translation to video.

3. Harmony

The main objection to harmony learning with video would be that the chords come out distorted. If that were true, then why didn’t years of recording technology in the 60’s present us with distorted chords? (That is, when distortion was not intended.)

We are at such a stage in personal audio technology, that we can even jam over the Internet with the proper compensating software. This area needs more exploration. I look forward to the day where concerts are held and nobody needs to leave their living rooms; including the musicians as well as the audience.

As it stands, learning harmonies and chord structure online is just as easy (or difficult) as it is to learn offline.

There are altogether the advantages of staying in the comfort of your home without having an outsider come in. There is that slight convenience of not having to clean and organize the house two minutes before the teacher arrives.

“Oops, I forgot my music book.”

That excuse is certainly pass at this point. Even if the dog ate it, there is enough music to download off the Internet for a live online video lesson.

if it’s a pre-recorded video lesson, the music will obviously be presented to the student. If this happens at a home/studio lesson, the teacher must dig up something on the spot, which detracts from the weekly planning.

There must be some advantages to home/studio offline teaching. The only thing that comes to mind is tone and dynamics.

These are for the advanced student and we are leaving the idea of learning fundamentals.

Learning tone is something that requires a disciplined ear and will not carry well even with the best online guitar lessons.

If there is any other advantage of home lessons over online training please leave a comment. Let everybody know why there is any need to take offline lessons any more when learning the fundamentals of music.

Beginner Guitar Lesson Online – The First Thing You Should Know

Beginner Guitar Lesson Online – The First Thing You Should Know
By Jackson Mitchels

When searching for a beginner guitar lesson online, the first thing you should be looking out for is how reputable and accurate the information being offered is. There are a ton of websites and lessons available in the Internet, and thanks to this fact, learning the guitar has never been easier.

Unfortunately, being a guitar teacher myself, I have noticed in forums and on websites themselves that there is a lot of information that is incorrect or sometimes blatantly wrong.

Lets just say that the blind are leading the blind.

So to learn the guitar what you need is correct information about what to play, and how to play it. I myself went my first 6 years playing the guitar the wrong way day after day for hours until I asked myself “why am I not getting any better?” I discovered after researching and watching myself practice that I was doing it all wrong and thus leading me to frustration and to a certain extent..despair.

I realized that I went wrong from day one because of the very first lesson I had. Nobody told me that I had to move my fingers in such a way that would help my fingers memorize each movement. I also had been fed information that was incorrect, so not only was I not playing the right way, I was playing the wrong thing the wrong way!

What I am trying to convey is that learning the guitar does take time, but if you start off the wrong way you will ultimately become stuck and have to unlearn all your mistakes, which… is a lot harder than learning the right way in the first place.

Learning to play guitar takes time but with consistent and dedicated practice using the right tools and information, you will progress quickly. For some of the best resources online to learn guitar click the link below

Best Electric Guitar Lessons – What You Are Looking For

Best Electric Guitar Lessons – What You Are Looking For
By Harvey Reeves

If you are trying to find the best electric guitar lessons and it seems impossible to decipher what is what, then you could have a mountain of work to get through. You need to cut through the flannel and get the information so you can make the right decision.

The good news is that you have decided one thing – to learn to play the electric guitar online but we need filter out what you do not want.

Let me ask you some questions:

  • Do you want to play some rock, blues and/or pop?
  • Do you think you need a complete course?
  • Do you want fast results?

If you have answered yes to these questions, then you are certainly clicking in the right direction. There are lots of burning questions that need answering, so let us tackle the main ones now.

Are the best electric guitar lessons too advanced?

Wondering about this can stop you from deciding anything for quite some time. It’s quite difficult to tell how much detail or how far a course will take you without actually trying it, but you don’t want to make the wrong choice, but that does not have to make it a Catch 22 situation.

Maybe you are thinking you might get lost with some of the terminology, or maybe you would not say you were intermediate, but you do not want to spend money on something which is teaching you the basics all over again.

To eliminate any doubt in this area, there are comprehensive courses which will take you from beginner through to advanced. If you feel you do not need to start from scratch, it does you no harm at all to recap quickly until you hit new territory, plus it will give you a flavour of the rest of the course and/or the way the software/site works that you will be using.

How much will the best electric guitar lessons cost?

There is a huge difference in the cost of online guitar courses, the good news is that all of them should be significantly cheaper than getting private tuition. Following on from the previous question, to get a flavour of the course you are thinking about, you can take advantage of any free trials or any money back guarantees. After all, that is why they are there.

Useful point to remember, the length of the money back guarantee should tell how much the designer believes in their product. For example, would you feel more confident in a product with a 30 day guarantee or a 1 day guarantee?

Will the best electric guitar lessons make me the guitarist I want to be?

Whether you want to play the guitar like Dave Grohl or Dave Gilmour, it is ultimately down to your dedication, but you need to be taken in the right direction to get you to the point where you can take flight yourself and tackle almost anything. As long as you get the general theme right, that is half the battle, as there is no point starting with a flamenco guitar tutor if you want to be in Foo Fighters.

The best electric guitar lessons will give you more pleasure than you expect and you will know when it just feels right and you will just learn as you go.

I bought one of these courses and I think this online product review is worth a look if you are a beginner, or you’re being held back by certain aspects of playing the guitar.

I have played guitar for over 25 years and feels it can and should be done in a fraction of the time these days.
